About History of U-M

Everything that can be learned about the University of Michigan’s past will help shape its future. This site is a gateway to resources across the University and continues to develop. We welcome input and suggestions.

Engagement and Access

The History of U-M site is designed to facilitate access to and development of historical content and resources. It continues the momentum of the university’s 2017 bicentennial and reflects an institution-wide commitment to promoting, disseminating, and examining U-M history. This work provides critical touchstones for engaging with current issues and the direction of the university as a whole.

The History of U-M site is part of the U-M History Initiative at the Bentley Historical Library and is under the direction of Gary Krenz, the Bentley’s director of post-bicentennial planning.
